Grand Floridian Easter Egg Display Returns for 2015

Gorgeous, Meticulously Detailed Easter Eggs on Display

The bakery team at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, led by executive pastry chef Erich Herbitschek, has been designing and hand decorating Easter eggs for 19 years. For the fourth year now, these Easter Eggs are on display in the lobby of the Grand Floridian for all to enjoy.

As soon as you enter the Grand’s lobby, you are greeted be the sight of the first display (above) as well as the overwhelming scent of chocolate! It’s wonderful!

In past years, there was just one main display like that shown in the above photo, but this year, there were several other displays in the lobby, including this SPECTACULAR recreation of the Mary Poppins-inspired fountain, which is found in the lobby of the Villas at Disney’s Grand Floridian.

Giving creative freedom to design their Easter eggs, this dedicated team spent over three weeks creating these edible works of art.

Each egg is ornamented with edible products such as modeling chocolate, fondant, sugar floral royal icing, colored cocoa butter and sculpture sugar art pieces. While creating a spectacle for guests, the Easter Egg project allows the pastry team to experiment with new techniques and hone their skills. It also puts their creativity to the test and gives them an opportunity to bring their visions to life.

Each hollow eggs weigh 9 to 12 pounds and stand 16 to 20 inches tall. Some eggs depict scenes from Disney films as well as original creations featuring Disney characters. Queen Elsa returned this year along with Rapunzel, while the carriage from Disney’s live-action Cinderella took center stage. Other eggs are completely original designs including a Steampunk egg, a gorgeous peacock, floral sculptures and an adorable puppy (also returning from last year). Scroll all the way through the photos. You won’t want to miss the seeminly shifty-eyed Easter Bunny at the end.

These beautiful Easter eggs will be on display through April 10, 2015

Happy Easter!
